Assumptions used in this estimate
  • Annual-liability estimate: taxes are figured on $65,000 of yearly pay and divided by 26 pay periods. Employers withhold using IRS Publication 15-T and your W-4, so actual paychecks can differ.
  • Filing status Single; federal standard deduction $16,100.
  • Oklahoma tax starts from federal adjusted gross income.
  • Personal exemptions of $1,000 deducted (dependents = children entered).
Not modeled for Oklahoma (5)
  • Oklahoma itemized deductions (capped at $17,000 excluding charitable contributions and medical expenses; required if taxpayer itemized federally)
  • Automatic 0.25% rate reduction if State Board of Equalization certifies revenue growth ≥ 5% — not modeled as certification occurs in February
  • Oklahoma Earned Income Credit
  • Various other credits (adoption, clean-burning motor vehicle, investment in qualified Oklahoma small business, etc.)
  • Part-year and nonresident apportionment

How the Oklahoma estimate is calculated

  1. Start from federal adjusted gross income — wages minus traditional 401(k) and Section 125 deductions.
  2. Subtract the Oklahoma standard deduction for your filing status. Subtract personal exemptions (dependents = the number of children you enter).
  3. Apply the brackets.
  4. Divide the annual total by your number of paychecks.

What this Oklahoma calculator does not model

  • Oklahoma itemized deductions (capped at $17,000 excluding charitable contributions and medical expenses; required if taxpayer itemized federally)
  • Automatic 0.25% rate reduction if State Board of Equalization certifies revenue growth ≥ 5% — not modeled as certification occurs in February
  • Oklahoma Earned Income Credit
  • Various other credits (adoption, clean-burning motor vehicle, investment in qualified Oklahoma small business, etc.)
  • Part-year and nonresident apportionment

Data notes

  • HB 2764 (2025) consolidated brackets and cut the top rate to 4.5% for tax year 2026. Re-verified against the OTC 2026 MeF Developer Guide rate schedules: single/MFS 0% to $3,750, 2.5% to $4,900, 3.5% to $7,200, 4.5% above; MFJ/HOH/surviving spouse thresholds doubled ($7,500 / $9,800 / $14,400).
  • Standard deduction (return values, fixed by statute): $6,350 single/MFS, $12,700 MFJ, $9,350 HOH. Exemptions: $1,000 per exemption (taxpayer, spouse, each dependent). These match the return instructions, not just the withholding tables.
  • Oklahoma requires the same deduction method (standard or itemized) as the federal return; Oklahoma itemized deductions are capped at $17,000 excluding charitable and medical.
  • Oklahoma taxable income = federal AGI ± Oklahoma adjustments − deductions − exemptions.
